Raptors' Scottie Barnes named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month

Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes has been named the Eastern Conference's Rookie of the Month for February.

In 12 games, Barnes averaged 15.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists while shooting 54 per cent from the floor and 37.5 per cent from three-point range. He registered a career-high 28 points against the Charlotte Hornets then matched it a couple of days later against the Brooklyn Nets.

Barnes became the first rookie since Shaquille O'Neal to score at least 25 points, grab 15 rebounds, and swipe five steals in a game.

The Raptors' fourth overall pick from the 2021 NBA Draft is averaging 14.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 rebounds and is shooting 48.9 per cent from the floor and 31.3 per cent from behind the arc in 53 games this season. 

Oklahoma City Thunder's Josh Giddey was named the Rookie of the Month for the Western Conference after averaging 16.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists in 10 games.
